Summary:

The Intelligent Materials Chemistry Group at the University of Turku is seeking one or two individuals to join the HackALDimaX project as either doctoral researchers or project researchers. This fixed-term role, funded by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation, is scheduled from 1st March 2024 to 28th February 2026. The selected candidates will engage in groundbreaking research within the Intelligent Materials Chemistry Group, focusing on the development and study of responsive materials. A key aspect of this role involves investigating the novel optical properties of hackmanites. Additional responsibilities include supervising lab work for bachelor and master thesis students.

Requirements:

Candidates for this position must exhibit a strong motivation for research and should either hold or be nearing completion of an MSc or equivalent degree in chemistry or a related field. Essential experience includes work in the synthesis and characterization of photochromic and luminescent hackmanites, or alternatively, a background in solid state chemistry and luminescent materials. Independent scientific work capability and proficiency in English are crucial. Initially, the title of Project Researcher will be granted, with the opportunity to transition to a doctoral degree study right, subject to university regulations and successful application in the forthcoming UTUGS call. Title: Postdoctoral Researcher / Senior Researcher in B cells and viruses

The position involves working on the Yellow4FLAVI project, an EU-funded initiative under Horizon Europe, with an 8 million EU contribution. This project, led by the Institute Pasteur in France and coordinated by Prof. Giovanna Barba-Spaeth, is a collaborative effort across 13 partner institutions in 7 countries. The candidate’s role will be centered around investigating the processing and presentation of the yellow fever viral vaccine antigen in B cells.
