This position is a 36-month, fixed-term Post-Doctoral Research Associate role, funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). The appointee will join Prof Alex Archibald’s atmospheric chemistry modelling research group. The primary focus is on two NERC projects: InHALE (Investigating HALocarbon impacts on the global Environment) led by Matt Rigby at the University of Bristol, and TWISTA (The Wide-ranging Impacts of Stratospheric smoke Aerosols) spearheaded by Jim Haywood at the University of Exeter. The key research tool is the UKCA/UKESM1 model. The role entails developing and analyzing extended functionalities to simulate stratospheric smoke aerosols and their atmospheric effects (50% of the time), and examining the impacts of very short-lived substances and halogenated compounds on ozone layer recovery and climate (50% of the time). Candidates must be nearing completion or possess a PhD in physical sciences or a related field, with preferred specializations in atmospheric science, computational mathematics, or physics.
