Title: Academic Scholarships – Incoming Freshmen

OLLU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions evaluates each student’s application for admission, high school grade point average (GPA), and test scores from the ACT or SAT to determine scholarship amounts. Students who plan to live in the residence halls will be considered for additional scholarship amounts. The student’s OLLU application for admission serves as the application for the Office of Admission scholarships. Student must enroll as a full-time student to be eligible.

Academic scholarship amounts:

Up to $7,000 – this scholarship amount is awarded to students who have performed well in high school and on the ACT or SAT. This award is renewable annually for four years based on academic achievement and full-time enrollment.

Up to $8,000 – this award is presented to students with strong academic potential as demonstrated by academic standing. This award is renewable annually for four years based on academic achievement and full-time enrollment.

Up to $10,000 – this award is given to students who demonstrate exceptional achievement. This award is renewable annually for four years based on academic achievement and full-time enrollment.

Up to $17,000 – this prestigious scholarship is awarded to our most academically qualified students and is renewable annually for four years based on academic achievement and full-time enrollment.


Title: Academic Scholarships – Transfer Students

Incoming transfer students are eligible for an academic scholarship based on college-level GPA. These scholarships are merit-based only and financial aid is available to supplement the cost of attendance. Students must enrol as full-time students to be eligible.

Title: Honors Scholarship

A Community of Learners for High Achieving and Motivated Students

The goal of the OLLU Honors Program is to enhance the University experience for undergraduate students by developing a community of learners in which the participants are engaged as whole persons (intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social) and engaged in the life of the larger community.

The program offers opportunities to work closely with faculty who are passionate about their subjects and about teaching, to socialize with highly motivated students, and to better prepare themselves for post-baccalaureate studies.

The honors curriculum offers students enhanced, thought provoking classes, more classroom discussions involving peers, and less rote memorization, as well as planned activities such as overnight retreats and trips to special events.

The Honors Program is a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council and the Great Plains Regional Council, giving students the opportunities to present research to other honors students and faculty at both national and regional conferences.

Title: Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH)

Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) grant program that provides grants to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Students must be enrolled in an eligible program and agree to teach in a high-need, low-income elementary or secondary school for at least four years within eight years of completing the program for which the TEACH Grant was awarded. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this grant. 

Students receiving the TEACH Grant must complete the following:

  • TEACH Grant Initial and Subsequent Counseling (Must be completed prior to completing ATS)
  • TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve (ATS)

Title: TEACH Grant Exit Counseling 

After completing your teaching program or ceasing to be enrolled you must complete TEACH Grant Exit Counseling. The exit counseling will explain the TEACH Grant Service Obligation and the terms and conditions that apply should your grant become a Direct Unsubsidized Loan.

Title: Texas Equalization Grant Program (TEG)

State grant aid to provide funds for financially needy students to enable them to attend private universities in Texas. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to receive TEG funds.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Are Texas residents or are non-resident National Merit Finalists;
  • Show financial need
  • Are enrolled in a degree plan leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree
  • Earn and maintain an overall college GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and complete at least 24 credit hours per year (18 credit hours per year if a graduate student)
  • Full-time enrollment
  • Are not receiving athletic scholarships
  • If male, must register for Selective Service
