The SYNCH project at TU/e is an ambitious initiative that aims to revolutionize olfactory sensing by merging synthetic biology with neuromorphic computing. This project is a collaboration among CAU Kiel University, the University of Bern, and Eindhoven University of Technology. It focuses on replicating the intricate architecture of the biological olfactory pathway in artificial systems. The main objective is to develop advanced neuromorphic microelectronic circuits and systems, facilitating connections between synthetic biological components and neuromorphic spike-based computing systems. This involves the use of integrated components, FPGA, and CMOS VLSI design techniques.
