The University of Groningen is offering a Postdoctoral Researcher position within the “Polyglot Machines: Human-like Learning of Morphologically Rich Languages” project. This project, funded by a NWO-VIDI Talent Grant and led by Dr. Arianna Bisazza, lies at the crossroads of Computational Linguistics/Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computational Psycholinguistics, and Language Acquisition. The aim is to bridge neural language modeling and human language acquisition by focusing on morphologically rich languages, particularly where limited child-directed language (CDL) data is available.

Key tasks for the researcher include reviewing language acquisition literature, developing and evaluating artificial languages, simulating CDL properties, and applying findings to real low-resource NLP tasks. The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, located within the Computational Linguistics group of the Centre for Language and Cognition at the University of Groningen, renowned for its high-quality teaching and research.
