The “PRONTO” project, a collaborative research initiative across multiple institutions including the Universiteit van Amsterdam and Utrecht University, seeks to develop advanced computational models for studying polymer films used in paints and coatings. This project involves creating multiscale models that integrate molecular simulations, reaction kinetics, and continuum modeling to understand the polymerization of paints during drying. The PhD candidate will focus on network modeling using graph theory and other mathematical tools to explore changes in molecular structure and dynamics.

Responsibilities:

The Informatics Institute’s Computational Science Lab at the Free University Amsterdam is offering a PhD position to explore multiscale modelling of endothelial cell (EC) monolayers in microvasculature. This position involves integrating molecular and cellular models to examine the effects of RhoA and RhoB GTPases on EC monolayer integrity, and how these pathways influence vascular health in acute and chronic settings. The candidate will work closely with experimental researchers to both inform and validate their computational models.
