Summary:
The Collective Epistemology of Misinformation project focuses on understanding the dynamics of misinformation within group contexts, emphasizing the role of identity and group membership in shaping collective beliefs. This research seeks to complement individual-centric approaches by examining how groups interact with epistemic rationality, thus offering insights into combating misinformation targeting collectives. Situated within the Erasmus School of Philosophy and the Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Economics, the successful candidate will undertake a PhD, conducting research informed by contemporary analytic epistemology and empirical findings from related disciplines such as sociology, psychology, economics, and political science. Supervision will be provided by Dr. M. Giulia Napolitano and Dr. Conrad Heilmann.
Requirements:
They seek a motivated PhD candidate possessing the following qualifications:
- An MA in analytic philosophy with a focus or interest in (social) epistemology, social and political philosophy, or social ontology.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Willingness to relocate to the Netherlands and actively participate in the academic community at ESPhil and EUR.
- Strong communication, organizational, and writing skills.
- Interest in interdisciplinary research, including engagement with fields like sociology, psychology, and economics.

Summary:
The postdoctoral researcher will delve into research focusing on funding, governing, and organizing for inclusive smart cities. Smart city projects, as responses to urban crises, aim to utilize digital technologies for innovation and sustainable development. However, their implementation involves substantial public and private sector investments and challenges traditional governance models, aspects often overlooked in current research. Furthermore, the researcher will explore how different funding, governance, and organizational approaches affect the inclusion or exclusion of various societal groups within urban environments. Drawing from theories such as Stakeholder Theory and Actor Network Theories, the researcher aims to contribute unique perspectives to existing literature on smart cities.
Requirements:
- A doctoral degree in a related field (policy, management, economics, urban studies) is required.
- The candidate should demonstrate outstanding research potential with reference to previous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals (A or min B publications) as outlined in the HEC Liege Academic Journal Guide.
- Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Familiarity with French, Dutch, or both is advantageous.
