National Institute for Research of France (Inria)
The National Institute for Research of France (Inria) was founded in 1967 and is a French public institution. The institute has two missions: research and innovation. Inria has been involved in some of the most important projects in computing history, such as the development of artificial intelligence and deep learning. The institute also has a strong presence in robotics and autonomous systems, cyber-security and big data.
Inria has been ranked among the top 10 institutes worldwide in terms of a number of publications. It is also the largest European research centre in terms of budget, number of researchers, and number of scientific publications. The institute employs over 12,000 researchers, engineers, analysts and support staff members across the country at 8 research centres distributed across France (in Bordeaux, Grenoble-Inovallée, Lille, Nancy, Paris-Rocquencourt, Rennes, Saclay, and Sophia Antipolis) and one centre abroad in Santiago de Chile, Chile.
