This research focuses on how cells manage their cytosolic concentration of inorganic phosphate (Pi), a crucial yet potentially hazardous nutrient. The study delves into the challenges cells face in balancing the need for Pi for growth—due to its role in nucleic acids, phospholipids, and protein modification—and the risks of having elevated cytosolic Pi, which can impair metabolism. The group’s work centers on understanding this balance, employing yeast and mammalian cells to study a novel intracellular phosphate reception (INPHORS) pathway. This pathway features evolutionarily conserved elements such as SPX domains, inositol pyrophosphates, and inorganic polyphosphates.

Requirements:

Ideal candidates will possess a PhD and have extensive experience and training in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology. The team especially welcomes applicants with a background in these fields.
