Deadline: 01.02.2024
Location: School of Humanities Institute of Philosophy
Summary:
The University of Iceland’s School of Humanities, Institute of Philosophy, offers a post-doctoral fellowship until December 31, 2025. This role is integral to the “Understanding Philosophical Progress” project, funded by the Icelandic Research Fund (RANNÍS). The project seeks to develop a novel “noetic account” of philosophical progress, focusing on understanding dependencies within philosophical topics. Principal Investigators include Finnur Dellsén and James Norton, alongside an international team of co-investigators and an advisory board of renowned philosophers.
Requirements:
The successful candidate for this post-doctoral fellowship is expected to engage in research that contributes to the project’s objectives, prepare research publications, present findings at scholarly conferences, and assist in the administration of the project and its events. The fellow will primarily be based at the University of Iceland to ensure effective collaboration with the research team.
Qualification Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in philosophy, obtained within the past five years, in a field relevant to the research project. Consideration will be given for extensions due to career breaks (e.g., illness, maternity/paternity leave).
- Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
- A research background in areas related to the project’s focus, such as philosophy of science, epistemology, meta-philosophy, or history of philosophy, is highly desirable.
