Summary:

The Electric Drives and Power Electronic Systems Institute, in collaboration with Silicon Austria Labs (SAL), is seeking exceptional individuals interested in pursuing Ph.D. research in the field of highly efficient and compact power electronic systems. The successful candidates will contribute to the newly established PERL laboratory, focusing on fundamental research in high-frequency switched power converters. Their research will concentrate on (resonant) topologies, driving, and sensing, leveraging cutting-edge power semiconductor technology like SiC and GaN. Responsibilities include conducting research, verifying concepts through simulation and prototyping, publishing findings, writing a thesis, and participating in teaching activities.

Requirements:

Admission Requirements:

  • Completion of a master’s degree in electrical engineering or physics (or equivalent).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Profound understanding of power electronics and related control methods.
  • Experience in experimental laboratory work and theoretical analysis using circuit simulation programs.
  • Hands-on experience in constructing and initializing power electronic hardware.
