Countries with the highest salary for Marie-Curie Fellowship

The very competitive nature of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (MSC-IF) is not the only distinction of this program but also the high salary of the fellows makes it very special in grants intended for junior scholars. One of the particular facts about this fellowship is that you can get the money to pursue your idea in almost all countries worldwide.

Mobility Rules: Marie-Curie Fellowship

There are however some exceptions. There are some mobility rules that do not allow you to apply for the fellowship in the place where you have received your PhD. To be more precise, the mobility rules provided by EC reads:

The researcher must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline.

This simply means that you should move (no worries, you get 600 Euro/month “mobility allowance” for that!). Since the cost of living in different countries are very different, the program organizers have developed a factor known as the Country Correction Coefficient (CCC) which normalizes the salary to the typical cost of living in the host country. In other words, the basic salary (known as “living allowance”) will be multiplied by a CCC number of the host country to determine the gross salary of the fellow.

Note that the classification of the countries is only based on the cost of living (expenses) and nothing else!
