Summary:

Join the CDL-MWTH (Christian Doppler Laboratory for Distributed Microwave and Terahertz Systems for Sensors and Data Links) at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) for cutting-edge research in integrated RF circuits, passive RF components, and system design for wireless sensors and RF data links, with a focus on mm-wave and THz frequencies.

Multiple fully funded research positions (40h per week) are available in the following areas: • RF circuit design on SiGe and BiCMOS technology • Novel mm-wave and THz sensors and sensor systems • High-data-rate communication systems • Digital signal processing for RF-based communication links and sensors

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in one of the aforementioned areas
  • Publish and present scientific work in journals and at international conferences
  • Supervise student projects

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Electronics, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • Experience in RF circuits, systems, measurement techniques, RF circuit design, digital signal processing, or software/hardware co-development
  • High interest in scientific research and ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in IT skills, Python, Matlab, and simulation tools
  • Fluent in English (B2 level); knowledge of German is a plus

Salary: The annual gross salary for Ph.D. students is € 45,882.20 (based on a 40-hour workweek).

Summary:

The RF-Systems group at the Institute for Communications Engineering and RF-Systems, JKU Linz, invites applications for pre-doctoral researchers to join our team. Our research focuses on integrated RF circuits, passive RF components, system design, and signal processing for wireless sensing and localization, particularly in mm-wave radar systems for automotive and industrial applications.

Candidates should hold a master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields like Computer Sciences, Mathematics, or Physics. Proficiency in English and/or German is required.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in RF circuits and systems, RF measurement techniques, digital signal processing, software/hardware development for DSP and/or FPGA-based systems, or electronic hardware development
  • Independent and self-motivated work ethic
  • Strong IT skills

While prior publications in these areas are not expected, they are a plus.
