This fellowship is the most prestigious postdoctoral fellowship (cf. salary of Marie Skłodowska-Curie ) in Europe which is granted by the European Commission. It is intended to help junior researchers (i.e. PhD holders or a researcher with equivalent qualifications) to practice independence to some extent in their academic careers to become ultimately group leaders/independent researchers after the termination of the MSC-IF fellowship. In this, we aim to answer the following question with the details: What is the Marie Curie Fellowship?

Application process

The PhD holder (applicant) should find a faculty (a host) in a university or a research institute and get his/her agreement to support him/her as a host. Then the applicant should write a proposal in the direction of his/her own activities and research area of the host faculty. Apparently, the proposal should be innovative and highly risky in a way that in the case of success could enhance the applicant and host reputation in the research field. The European Commission assesses the written proposal, and the proposal with the highest grade of evaluation will be granted. Currently (2018), the proposal with grades of around 90% and more is likely to be granted. In another post, we explained how to write a successful Fellowship.
