The top 5 German cities where the best Germany’s universities are located

Germany is one of the best country for the students who are aiming to pursue their study abroad. Most of the German universities do not have any tuition while the cost of living is low ( see our earlier post on cost of living in Germany). In short living and studying Germany is relatively affordable in comparison to other central european countries. 

In the following, the list of top German universities according to their ranking is summarized:

1#Munich: In the top ten universities of Germany, there are two universities located in Munich.  In ranking of QS World University of 2018 Technical University of Munich (TUM) is the best german university in the word (64th). The rank of this university in Natural science is 18th in the list of QS World University of 2018. TUM has 38000 students (6000 international students) in 172 different study programs. The second top university of Germany is Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) (in 66th place of QS World University ranking of 2018). In philosophy subjects Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is in 12th place in QS list. This university has about 35000 students (5000 international students).

2#Heidelberg: Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg is in 3rd place of best universities in Germany (68th in word). This university is one of the oldest german university where around 28000 students (5200 international students) are enrolled. Majority of students in Ruprecht-Karls-Universität study in Humanities subjects such as Theology and Low.

3#Karlsruhe: Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is the 4th rank university in Germany and in 107th place in the world ranking. The university focus is in engineering and technology such as energy and information. This university has about 26000 students (4800 international students).

4#Berlin: Three of the top ten university of Germany are located in Berlin. The first of them is Humboldt-Universität of Berlin which is in 5th place of the top university in Germany and in 120th place of QS World University ranking of 2018. In the Philosophy subject, this university is placed in 14th place in the word. Around 33000 students (4800 international students) study at this university. In the sixth place of ten top german universities is Freie Universitaet Berlin (in 125th place in QS World University ranking of 2018). This university is famous in Archaeology subjects and is placed in 10th top word universities in this subject. In this university there are 32900 students which 5700 of them are international. The third university of Berlin is Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) which is in 8th place in Germany and 144th place in the world. This university is one of the best and largest technical university in Germany. In this university about 22000 students (4400 international students) study in more than 100 different study programs.

5#Aachen: Aachen University (RWTH) is one of the best german university which is placed in 7th place of the top ten universities in Germany and 141st place in the world. This university has around 44500 students (8500 international students) which make it the largest technical university in Germany.
